By law, all equine animals in Ireland must have a microchip and passport from an approved issuing body. These are essential for the identification of each equine as an individual. A horse born in Ireland must have a passport before the 31st of December on the year of its birth, or within 6 months of birth, if born in the last 6 months of the year.
The process of marking and micro chipping involves the implantation of a microchip by one of our trained Vets, and the completion of a marking chart, which identifies the horses unique features. The chart is then sent to an approved issuing body, where the passport is forwarded to the owner.
